How to read a Tesla VIN
Positions 1–3 identify the manufacturer (5YJ = Tesla Fremont-era passenger cars,
7SA = Model S/X/Y from 2022 on, LRW = Giga Shanghai, XP7 = Giga Berlin).
Position 4 is the model (3, S, X, Y, C for Cybertruck).
Positions 5–7 encode body style, restraint system, and drive unit. Position 10 is the model year
(M = 2021, N = 2022, P = 2023, R = 2024, S = 2025,
T = 2026). Position 11 is the assembly plant (F = Fremont, A = Austin,
B = Berlin, C = Shanghai). The last six digits are the serial number.
